Community Supported Agriculture
CSA PROGRAM
What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, CSA is a unique partnership of mutual support and commitment between local farmers and community members. Members pay a fee to help cover initial farm costs and in turn receive a weekly share of harvest during the growing season. Through membership in our CSA you will also have the opportunity to come to know and understand life on the farm as well as support our efforts to grow healthy, nutritious food in a sustainable way.
The rewards of a CSA membership are numerous. Learning to eat seasonally, cooking and preserving new and interesting vegetables, celebrating the growing season through special membership events at the Orchard and coming to feel a sense of connection with your local farmers, Jimmy and Becky Morath, are all result of a lively participation in our CSA.
Membership can be as involved as you would like it to be depending on the experience you are looking for. CSA is not like shopping at the supermarket. Your weekly share will be comprised of fruits and vegetables that are in season, so you may have to wait for a peach or tomato until high summer months. But, you will learn to enjoy a variety of fresh produce from the geographical area in which you live. Doing so will allow you to come into a closer connection with the climate and nature of North Texas.
